Hello~!


Rant, rant, rant, rant desu. I apologize. ^.^

But there’s some ideas I want to throw at you.

For my speech class, I’m doing a speech on gay rights. I’ve done a lot of research and I’m really trying to think hard about it. This is only something really small, just a few ideas. Everything below is just my opinion.

The other day I was watching the news to find out California just allowed gays to marry. This made me very happy. They ruled it as such because they said it was unconstitutional not to let them form a family, which I think is correct. However, there was some guy on there that came on and said that the judges were just going by their feelings and not by the law.
But, when you think about it the law is nothing but opinions. The law is made by humans, and so the law can never be completely fair no matter how hard it tries for humans are naturally hateful people and fear things different from the norm or themselves. It’s his opinion that he says that, because he probably thinks gay are nothing but sinners. The law is made to try and reflect what humans think is morally right. It is a sin to murder, it is illegal to murder. It’s a sin to steal, its illegal to steal. But its never possible to do it completely correct. Like the tied up seal. And what we think is morally correct comes from what were taught in church. By law, gays should be allowed to marry. However, humans are afraid of them and so they find ways to warp around it to try and be morally correct. Then were just back to opinions.
America, I believe is one of the nations that just say no flat out. I believe this is because they are greatly influenced by their Christianity. But, isn’t church and state supposed to be separated? In Japan, Buddhism or Shintoism says nothing about gay people. We even have a history of it with our gay samurai and shoguns so it’s perfectly accepted there, many people even think its cute. Iraq used to allow gay marriage for a long time until just a few years ago when they got a new government member that went and changed it. South Africa is know as the Rainbow nation not only does it allow them to marry, but it also allow them to adopt children and has laws against discriminating them.
I’m not try to say that Christianity is wrong, it probably is right but really, there’s no part in the bible that mentions gayness in the slightest. The old testament would mention things such as “strange pleasures” but not gayness directly. The bible also says it’s a sin for men to have long hair and women to go to church while menstruating...
I do believe it is a form of discrimination. It’s nothing different from how blacks or women tried to fight for their rights. However, the only difference is that humans think they’re morally wrong so no one wants to help them in their battle. It’d be considered discrimination if you went and beat a black person just because you’re racist against blacks, right? So why do some of the states here don’t even have any discrimination laws for gays, if a mob of people come and beat you up because their homophobic, who cares, right? Like the college student. They refuse to see it as a hate crime because they really don’t care...
And also, the word, ‘gay’ is in general used as another words for ‘bad’ You know, “I hate that class, its so gay.” What if I said, “I hate that class, its so Jewish.” You’d look at me funnily, wouldn’t you?
I’m rather sick of it, personally... It seems some people don’t even see gays as human beings. I’m just like any other person. What it boils down to: people are afraid of them and they're influenced by the church's ideas.

I’d really appreciate any opinions on this, for or against, if you would.

And to throw something really random but maybe slightly related in. Why is it that Americans don’t kiss their relatives on the lips? They’ll maybe peck each other on the cheek but that’s only sisters really, you don’t see brothers showing any kind of affection at all really. I have kissed my brother for as long as I can remember but it really seems to freak Americans out... XD
